Little Lambs Christian Daycare

1998 – 2004


SEEDS operates as a organisation of volunteers that presides over finances which have been made available for the purpose of supporting Schools, Education, Empowerment, Developments amongst the underprivileged people of South Africa.

2004

Johann van der Walt negotiated a lease for 30 years with the then YMCA, for premises on their grounds and paid the leasing costs for 30 years in advance. Little Lambs relocated to the new premises on the YMCA grounds. The infrastructure consisted of 3 small rooms and a toilet.

2004

Johann van der Walt partnered with Marlis Schaper to fundraise for the Little Lambs. She becomes a long lasting supporter and friend and with Kinderhilfe-Kapstadt she successfully fundraises overseas, especially in Germany.

2005

SEEDS is successfully registered as an NPO and Trust to cater for the fast growing Little Lambs.

2007
Sadly Johan passed away but his memory lives on in the values of SEEDS Trust and in our hearts!

2005 – 2009

Thanks to Marlis/Kinderhilfe-Kapstadt and the generosity of various overseas corporate and private sponsors Little Lambs buildings are extended and upgraded.

Little Lambs has 11 classrooms, 13 toilets, a kitchen to cater for 150 children, an enclosed veranda and a large playground

2015

Department of Social Development registers Little Lambs to accommodate 285 children.

2019 – 2020

At Little Lambs in Hout Bay SEEDS Trust plans to build extra classrooms to accommodate an After School Care Centre for children leaving Little Lambs at 6 years. The children aged 7 – 13 years will be assisted with homework.

Imizamo Yethu Learning Hub

2023

The need for an after school care facility for the children of Imizamo Yethu is noticed, specifically catering for Little Lambs graduating onto Primary School. Fundraising is gained and building began using local tradesmen and necessary approved plans.

2024

The facility is finished and signed off by city officials. The mayor and local councillor is among invited guests to attend the opening party. A “learning through discovery” curriculum is initiated and 3 facilitators are hired and trained to make the centre home for over 100 kids every weekday of the year.

Heuwel Speelskool Calitzdorp

2015

In Calitzdorp at the Heuwel Speelskool a second building with 4 classrooms, storeroom and toilets are sponsored through Marlis/Kinderhilfe-Kapstadt/SEEDS.

2020

A third building with 4 extra classroom is built to accommodate an After School Care Centre for children aged 7 – 13 years and for additional space for the Daycare Centre.
